How To Turn A Job Rejection Into Success
How To Turn A Job Rejection Into Success It stings when you are not hired after an interview for a job you really wanted. It stings even more when you are sure you are well-qualified for the position and have worked hard on your resume and interview skills. What you do with rejection is going to make a big impact on what happens next. Dont Assume That You Are The Reason For Rejection A company has to conduct interviews even if they already know someone inside the corporation is getting a position. It may be that you are well-qualified for the position, your resume is stellar, and you were impressive during the interview, but the person who is getting the job has the advantage of experience. Getting into a downward spiral of dejection in this case is a mistake. You arent the reason for rejection if someone else is a better choice for the job because it isnt your failure that determined the choice here. Admit What Is Wrong Sometimes you actually are the reason for the rejection. It might be that you didnt seem like a good fit for the company culture, or you didnt look the interviewer in the eye and that came across as sneaky. Maybe you were sloppy or had too much makeup or wore perfume that made their nose itch. Perhaps you checked your cell phone for messages during the interview or some other automatic habit was a problem. The only way to know is to work on honing your interview skills and getting help identifying your blind spots. Be Willing To Change And Learn If you got to the interview stage, your resume and cover letter are probably not the problem. Its not a bad idea to go over them to make sure your qualifications are evident for the next submission, but they were good enough to get you in the door for a face to face talk. Congratulations! An interview is still a good thing even if you didnt get the job. You have the experience of that interview to build on, and the knowledge that you were impressive enough to call in. Now its time to analyze what happened and learn from it. Appreciate all the advice you can gather, apply it analytically without letting your feelings get in the way, and let rejection be the catalyst that makes your success a reality.

With a little help from your computer, you will have enough knowledge about writing resumes and interview questions that you will be able to go into a job interview feeling like a professional. The first thing you will need to do is take a few minutes and actually read through your resume. Take note of the contact information and the job title. Make sure that you address it in your resume. The next step is to start writing. Use the proper format for resumes. Do not write your resume in the same manner as your employment file or CVs.It may seem like you are writing a resume, but it is not; the main idea of your resume should be to highlight your qualifications for the job. Never write an email that is similar to your resume. You may want to include a cover letter with your resume, which is the next step. Make sure that your cover letter is original, does not contain any spelling errors, and that it contains strong enough words to catch the attention of the hiring manager. After the resume is finished, you will then need to have it edited. People tend to make mistakes when they write, so make sure that you follow the correct format. Do not use the same format in your letterhead, body of your resume, and cover letter. These tips may seem overwhelming at first but the more you practice, the easier it will be to start a resume writing/interview preparation from your home. Be creative, and don't forget to keep your resume or cover letter clean and professional.

6 Morning Routines You Really Should Be Doing at Night
6 Morning Routines You Really Should Be Doing at Night There are plenty of good-for-you habits you try to achieve on the dailyâ"from mastering new recipes to learning as many stress-management skills as possible. Youâre in a state of constant self-improvement, always looking for new ways to feel even better. And weâve got good news for you: Thereâs a super-easy way to score even more health perks from the habits you already have on lockdown. âMaintaining healthy habits is a good idea at any time of the day, but certain ones can give you more bang for your buck when done before bed,â says Rachel Daniels, RD, senior director of nutrition at Virtual Health Partners in New York. This is because they help to enhance the restorative rituals your body checks off while you sleep. Hone in on these six healthy habits during your bedtime routine and give your health a boost without even trying. Wash your face The best thing you can do for your skin is remove your makeup and wash your face before you hit the sheets. âCleansing every night is so important because as we sleep, our skin takes advantage of this time to naturally rejuvenate and heal itself,â says Joel Schlessinger, MD, board-certified dermatologist and RealSelf contributor. Sleeping with your makeup on leaves impurities on your skin that disrupt this process, leading to bacterial buildup, breakouts, and premature signs of aging. Thatâs not to say your skin canât benefit from an a.m. cleanse too, but the nighttime cleanse is where you score the most perks. In the morning, your face is technically cleanâ"well, depending on the state of your pillowcaseâ"so if you want to freshen up, make sure itâs with a gentle cleanser that doesnât irritate your skin. âYou donât want to damage the protective outer layer of skin cells and natural oils,â says Tsippora Shainhouse, MD, board-certified dermatologist in Beverly Hills and clinical instructor at the University of Southern California. To get our top stories delivered to your inbox, sign up for the Healthy Living newsletter Apply a retinoid This prescription vitamin A derivative is best known for helping to increase cell turnover and encourage new collagen formation in the skin, which can lead to younger-looking skin when used regularly. âMany moisturizers, serums, and even sunscreens claim to contain retinoids, but theyâre wasted when added to daytime products, because almost all retinoids are broken down by the sunâs UV rays,â says Dr. Shainhouse. To get the most from your topical retinoid, apply it to your face, neck, and hands at bedtime. (Not ready for a retinoid? Here are the best over-the-counter retinol creams you can buy without a prescription.) Use mouthwash When it comes to neutralizing the cavity-causing acids that set up shop around our teeth and gums, saliva is the bodyâs partner-in-crimeâ"only, we produce less of the stuff when we sleep. That can dry out your mouth, leaving teeth and gums vulnerable to things like tooth decay and gingivitis, says Lana Rozenberg, DDS, a cosmetic dentist in New York City. Enter mouthwash: Swishing some before you hit the hay gives it the whole night to work, while also giving your mouth an extra layer of protection during the saliva drought. Antiseptic rinses help get rid of bacteria that cause gum disease and bad breath. Meanwhile, fluoride rinses help with preventing tooth decay. (Note: You may want to skip minty mouthwashes in favor of something fruity or unflavored at bedtime, as mint can be invigorating and might make it harder to doze off.) RELATED: The Best Mouthwash for Gingivitis, According to a Dentist Eat yogurt Giving your body a dose of good-for-your-gut bacteria before bed can help your immune system function optimally throughout the night, which is when itâs at its busiest, says Irina Zhdanova, MD, PhD, sleep expert and CEO of ClockCoach. Look for âlive active culturesâ on the label of your favorite brand to ensure it contains good bugs like lactobacillus. Some research suggests that noshing on yogurt and other protein-rich foods before bed can also help your muscles repair and grow, says New York-based registered dietitian Michelle Routhenstein, RD. Get some exercise When we sleep, our breathing is relatively infrequent and shallow, so oxygen levels are lower overnight. By taking a 15- to 20-minute walk before bed (and breathing deeply throughout), you can help your cells stock up on the oxygen they need to accomplish all of their restorative handiwork while you snooze, says Dr. Zhdanova. Long thought to make it harder to drift off, a little exercise before bedtimeâ"or anytime during the dayâ"has actually been linked to better sleep. Just donât do anything too vigorous right before hitting the hay. Incorporate a little stretching into that pre-bed physical activity and you might find you also wake up less stiff, since youâll have prepped your muscles and tendons for regeneration while you sleep, says Daniels. Apply antiperspirant Swiping on your antiperspirant before bed gives it the entire night to sink into your pores, helping to control sweating more effectively. Thatâs because physical activity (and the sweating that follows) is at a minimum when we snooze, giving an antiperspirant the chance to go into full-on protection mode sans interference, says Dr. Schlessinger. You can still apply some more in the morning to freshen up, he says, just make sure that applying it at night is your main priority.

Perfecting the Education Section on Your Resume (with examples)
Perfecting the Education Section on Your Resume (with examples)33What should my education section look like? The objective and impact of your education section will differ depending on your circumstance. The detail required within your education section as a high-school student will be very different to when youre a working professional with 10+ years of experience. Ive broken things down into four simple questions what, where, how, and why. What should be included, where your education section should go, how do you describe things, and why this will work to your advantage.Education Section As a High-School StudentWhat? The name of your school, the year you started at your school, and a brief description of classes and/or extra-curricular activities youre involved in. Its no harm to include your GPA, too.Where? This depends on how much working experience you have. In general, your education section should be at the top of your resume, just under your resume header. How? When describi ng classes youve taken, tailor them to the position youre applying for. For example, if youre applying for a role in retail and have taken classes in Business and Math, these would be particularly relevant. Languages classes would be relevant here, too. You can mention your individual grades in these classes. When it comes to extracurricular activities youre involved in, describe what you did, rather than what it was. For example, planted 300 trees as part of the environmental club. Simply listing that youre a member of many clubs doesnt mean very much. Why? Placing your education section near the top (beginning) of your resume is important as its one of the only formal records of work you have done. This allows hiring managers to see your ability to perform real-world tasks and to pick up new skills.Example Education Section for A High School Student ResumeEducation Section as a College Student and Recent GraduateWhat? Your university, the title of your degree, your GPA, any relevan t courses you have taken or are taking, and the period of your studies.Where? If you have a couple years of work experience, you can place your education after that. Unless youre applying to a position in the field you got a degree in. Otherwise, you can include your education prominently near the top of your resume. If you graduated more than 3 years ago, this is not the best choice, however. Consider separating extra-curricular activities into a volunteering section as college extracurriculars tend to include more of a dedication and skill-set than high-school equivalents. How?Much like in a first job resume, tailor any classes youve taken to the position youre applying to. Giving insight into any software packages or skills youve developed over the course of your degree as a current student is also helpful here. As a recent graduate, you should include your final grade and any information on your thesis or dissertation. Why?Your education is your base. Showing the recruiter where you have developed your academic skills allows them to judge your theoretical framework and get a peek into the areas you know best. Recruiters wont expect you to know the ins-and-outs of practical experience in a certain field, they simply want to know youre starting with an understanding, and not from scratch. Example Education Section as a College Student and Recent Graduate Education Section as An Experienced Professional What? The university you studied at, the title of your degree, and your GPA (if it is high). Where? As an experienced professional, your education takes less prominence. You can include it towards the end of your resume but definitely after your previous experience. How?In general, you wont need to include classes youve taken in your education section. Unless youve only recently obtained your degree in a new area. Why? If youve built your base and have been working in your field for a number of years. The recruiter doesnt need to check your education to see if you have an ability in the area your previous experience does this for you. Your education section completes the story of your career and gives insight into who you are more than it does prove your potential impact.Example Education Section as An Experienced ProfessionalGeneral Tips for Your Education Section If listing a number of degrees, do so in reverse-chronological order Always be specific if youre applying to a job in marketing and have a degree in sales and marketing, your marketing degree should be given preferenceDont lie about your grades or completion of a degree, this is easily checkedYou can include your education even if you havent completed the degree, either state the number of credits youve completed or simply when you expect to graduatePerfecting the education section on your resume Recruiters look to your education to reference your ability to pick-up new skills, meet deadlines, and apply yourself to new challenges. The importance of your education specifically changes as you progress throughout your career. Fortunately, this doesnt mean you have to take your education off to cut down on resume length. Applying general tips such as being specific in the information you give helps increase the impact your education section has too.To create a resume education section as clear and impactful as the examples youve seen above, you can utilize Enhancvs resume builder. Will Robots Take My Job Here Are the 4 Skills You Need to Ensure They Dont
Will Robots Take My Job Here Are the 4 Skills You Need to Ensure They Dont Will Robots Take My Job? 4 Marketable Skills AI Cant Take From YouYouve heard it for years now Robots are taking over Theyre stealing all the jobs Before you panic, lets focus on what robots cant do.Youve seen the 60 Minutes specials. Youve read The New York Times exposs. Robots are competing with humans for jobs, they say. Robots are transforming the workforce, they report.Thats enough to send everyone into a mild panic. Think about the role that computers, software automation, and artificial intelligence have already played in reshaping jobs. On a daily basis, you probably use self-checkouts, ATMs, and customer service chatbots. The examples can go on and on, but the point isnt to scare you.The truth is, its difficult to predict the actual impact robots will have on jobs. But one thing thats certain? There are leise a number of skills that robots cant take away from humans and youll want to highlight behaup tung skills on yur resume to help you stand out from the bots. Here are four human skills to include on your resume that automation wont be able to replace1. Emotional intelligenceEmotional intelligence (EQ) is simply the ability to control and express your emotions, as well as understand and shape the emotions of others. Whether youre communicating with co-workers, customers, or clients, you need some degree of emotional intelligence.Imagine if your manager didnt possess an ounce of emotional intelligence. They wouldnt be able to effectively communicate with you, wouldnt understand why you might need to work from home one day, and wouldnt be able to help you manage your stress. They just simply wouldnt understand. Now, there are robots being developed that use artificial intelligence to read social cues and detect emotions, but they cant replace human workers and the complexities of the human condition. Sure, they might be able to register emotions, but that doesnt mean they can buil d relationships and show empathy like you.Even if you dont have an off-the-charts EQ, its still a lot higher than a machines. As you interact with your co-workers, direct-reports, and management, keep your EQ in mind. Note key examples where its helped you be better at your job and dont be afraid to mention these in your next job bewerbungsgesprch or weave empathy into your personal brand.2. Creative problem solvingBecause robots cant tap into and understand human psychology like other humans can, they wont be able to creatively problem-solve like product designers, advertisers, and marketers have to.Think about it Say youve created a Facebook ad, but people arent engaging with it. Will a computer be able to effectively theorize why and pose a solution? They might be able to plug in some formula and adjust the ad, but that doesnt always work. Oftentimes you have to understand your audience get inside their head.Creative problem solving can mean a number of things resolving employee conflict, meeting a clients goals, or even adjusting internal workflow processes.Take a moment to think of a few times youve had to get creative to solve a problem. Walk through your decision-making process and explore how you came to a solution. Could a machine do that? Probably not. Keep these instances in mind while updating your resume.3. Management (both technological and human)Many companies already use software and artificial intelligence programs to manage their employers, products, or services. Implementing these tools allows employees to beipass menial tasks and instead focus on more important work. So, technically, automation has already started taking over many workplaces but you still need humans to monitor it. Heres an example Your companys accountant or bookkeeper probably uses a program to track income and expenses. But what happens when that program crashes? When theres a payment error? Do you bring in another software or automated process? No, you need a human to detect that mistake and use those problem-solving skills to correct it. And when it comes to managing employees, computers and automation simply cant replace humans. As you continue to advance in your career, keep these managerial needs in mind. Highlight your experience managing both technology and other humans to help show employers your value.4. CommunicationSure, youve seen robots communicate with each other and even humans. But they still cant totally replace humans both internally within a company and externally to customers.Think about those days you work from home or communicate with co-workers exclusively through your companys messaging system. It works just fine, but its not as effective as face-to-face (or video-to-video) interactions. And thats just internally what about communicating with your audience outside the company? When talking about communication skills, its also important to consider nonverbal communication skills these are often just as important as your verb al skills.Simply put Robots cannot communicate with humans like humans can. Again, as you continue to progress in your career, think about the way you communicate both internally and externally. Make an effort to finesse those soft skills in a variety of situations and to highlight them on your resume. Conclusion Will robots take my job?To be honest, its difficult to predict exactly how technology will shape the workforce. Automation has certainly taken over some jobs, but there are certain human skills it simply wont be able to match. So, what do you have to do? First, dont worry too much. Keep focusing on your job and growing your skills. Second, keep the skills robots cant replace top of mind as you update your resume. Even if youre not looking for a new job right now, keep developing your professional skills so you can show them off when it comes time to job search.Want to see how youre doing so far?
